Last week, WDE was turned into Ellis Island for our 2nd grade students. Students were able to role play to experience the life of an immigrant child. They completed a class immigration card, went through a medical exam, visited the hospital if they needed to, went through immigration questioning, and finally, they met the Statue of Liberty as they were admitted into the United States! Our students enjoyed being fully immersed in Ellis Island experience which helped them understand immigration, and how important Ellis Island was.
