“Where do maggots come from?” Just ask one of our 5th grade scientists at West DeFuniak! Students were able to observe science in action this week by discovering what type of meat attracts maggots the quickest. To start the experiment students had to form a hypothesis based on which meat they thought would attract the most maggots, they then listed the materials needed, formulated a procedure with steps on how to complete the experiment, and then collect data by observing the meat on a daily basis. Today students had to publish their results and come to a conclusion about the data they collected throughout the week. The winner is BEEF! Beef attracted maggots the quickest.
