Open Door Grant Program

The Florida Open Door Grant Program helps eligible students enrolled in workforce education programs at Emerald Coast Technical College (ECTC) reduce the cost of training for high-demand careers.

For eligible students, Open Door Grant funding may help cover:

  • Tuition and fees

  • Assessment and certification costs

Open Door funds are applied after all available federal, state, institutional, and third-party aid has been considered. Awards are subject to funding availability and program eligibility. Returning students may receive priority consideration. Funding is available through June 30, 2027, or until available funds are exhausted.

  • Computer Systems & Information Technology (CSIT)

  • Cosmetology

  • Electricity

  • Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning/Refrigeration (HVAC/R) 1

  • Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning/Refrigeration (HVAC/R) 2

  • Master Automotive Service Technology 1

  • Master Automotive Service Technology 2

  • Network Support Services

  • Patient Care Technician

  • Pharmacy Technician

  • Phlebotomy

  • Plumbing

  • Practical Nursing

  • Professional Nursing*

  • Welding Technology

  • Welding Technology – Advanced

*Professional Nursing students should contact the Financial Aid Office regarding current funding availability and program requirements.

How to Qualify

Students may be considered for Open Door Grant funding based on enrollment in an eligible program and institutional review. Additional documentation may be required. A separate application may not be necessary.

Declining Open Door Funding

Students who choose not to accept Open Door Grant funding must notify the Financial Aid Office. Students who decline available funding are responsible for all applicable tuition, fees, and other educational expenses.
