Another Great Day to be a Stingray at ECMS! Lunch is where we take a break, socialize and plan for the weekend, especially when we are going to be away from each other for a week!  We have been Recalibrated-Refocused, and Rocking since August and the truth is we are READY for a break!  Stay Safe Stingrays!!!!!  School lunches are cool but we are READY for the Thanksgiving Spread prepared by our families.

Celebration at MHS!

November 18, 2021

MHS 4th and 5th Grade students and staff recently enjoyed an A+ Celebration to recognize the hard work and learning gains that were accomplished during the 2020-2021 School Year on the Florida State Assessments. Students were treated to a grilled lunch, fresh cotton candy, games, and dance time. We are so incredibly proud of Mossy Head School earning a School Grade of 70 points (an increase from 62 points) and we can’t wait to see the great things coming for the 21-22 School Year! ??????

Grasses in Classes students tend salt marsh nurseries throughout the school year, and receive monthly education on local estuarine topics that meet Florida’s state science standards. Periodically, the schoolchildren split the grasses to increase the nursery stock. At the end of the school year, Grasses in Classes culminates with students planting their shoreline grasses at one of our salt marsh restoration sites along Choctawhatchee Bay as part of our living shoreline initiative. The program instills a love of local habitat, restores shoreline, and inspires the next generation of watershed stewards.

Per FLDOE guidance, we need stakeholder input on our most recent American Rescue Plan (ARP) grant. Please complete the survey below. We need as much input as we can get.  This survey will close on November 28th.

Walton County School District COVID-19 Mitigation Strategies for the 2021-2022 School Year

  1. If a person is sick (students, teachers, staff, and visitors), they should stay home.
  2. Face covering is optional for all, including the bus.
  3. Hand sanitizer is available at various areas inside the school.
  4. Social distancing from others is encouraged as much as possible.
  5. Signs will be displayed to remind those in schools about social distancing, as well as the use of hand sanitizer, washing of hands, and face coverings.
  6. Cleaning and disinfecting school facilities/buses which are occupied by students will be done daily.
  7. Adequate mitigation supplies are on hand at all schools/facilities (hand sanitizer, disinfectant wipes, masks, etc.).
  8. COVID-19 vaccination is optional for all students and employees.
  9. COVID-19 contact tracing is occurring in all schools/facilities (2021-2022 WCSD Decision Tree for employees and students).
  10. At this time non-essential visitors and volunteers are not allowed to enter schools. This mitigation strategy will be revisited in the next few weeks.

*Please keep in mind that although COVID positive cases may represent a student or staff member within the WCSD, it does not necessarily indicate that the virus originated within the WCSD.  It is also important to note that a portion of the positive cases involve individuals who may have never entered the school setting while sick due to proper quarantining.
