Safety Patrol students at Van R. Butler are learning how to take the Florida flag and United States flag down, as well as up each day. These students work hard to show that they are ready for the extra responsibilities. Safety Patrol members are fourth grade students that are chosen by the PE department. These are students that have shown that they take initiative and always do the right thing. Other duties among this group include helping at Primary drop off in the morning to help the little ones get out of vehicles. They also help in the cafeteria at breakfast. In addition to all of these, the students learn how to raise and lower the flags each day and fold them correctly. This semester’s Safety Patrol includes Ana Flores, Karissa Garcia, JJ Karakorn, Caidyn Parnell, Beckett Rhea, Haleigh Roberson, Sara Smith, Spring Starkey, and Carlin Watson.  Submitted by Sherrie Binkowski.
