WHS Marching Braves Close Season With Wins
October 31, 2016
The Marching Braves closed their season yesterday in Theodore, Alabama, with more wins, making it an unforgettable and historic season.
The band competed in class 1A against 12 bands. Not only did they receive Straight Superior Ratings, the only band in their class to do so, but they won Class 1A and placed 3rd overall out of all 12 groups with their Guard placing 2nd.
The band has now earned six sets of Straight Superior Ratings; three Best in Class Band awards; three Best in Class Guard awards; one Best in Class Percussion; and one Best In Class Drum Major award. They have also won their entire class at every competition they have attended as well as qualified for the State Marching Competition in Tampa with a score of 81.10 earlier this season - a first in band history.
The band will now shift gears with the start of concert season as they prepare for their winter concert on December 8 at First Baptist Church. However, the competitions aren't over just yet, as they will begin their second season with the Winterguard, who won a Gold Medal in their class last year, as well as the first-ever Indoor Percussion Ensemble. Both groups will compete on Saturdays during the spring semester.
Congratulations on an amazing, successful season! Submitted by Christy English.
