On January 31st, Dr. Alexis Tibbetts, SWHS Principal, and James Ross, SWHS Assistant Principal, facilitated a session on Courageous Conversations offered through the PAEC SAIL Academy.  This program is for those educators who wish to have Principalship added to their State of Florida teaching certificate. Some of the topics that participants learned about were classroom walk-throughs, reflective feedback and clarifying action steps.  This was a beneficial experience for those involved. These students have earned the most Accelerated Reading points in their grade level and were rewarded with creaming Mrs. Spence!  Mrs. Spence was a good sport and happy she could play a part in encouraging students to read!!!  Additional photos may be found on WSCD's Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/Walton-County-School-District-111628765567605/  Submitted by Cindy Stewart.

Practical nursing students (Adam Resendiz, Jessica Clark, and Alisa Prescott) are learning how to check for placement of nasogastric tubes and PEG tubes prior to instilling fluids or medications into the simulated patient. This ensures that the feeding tube is correctly placed in the stomach. Students can visualize correct placement of the tube, listen for the gurgling sound by instilling air into the tube with their syringe and stethoscope, or by pulling back on the syringe to check for stomach content. ECTC is proud to have state of the art equipment for our nursing students to learn on so that they can provide safe and competent care in the real life setting! If you would like to be part of the Practical Nursing Program please contact us at (850)892-1241. ECTC has two LPN programs beginning in May.

Congratulations to WHS student Jade Larrick, who signed her official commitment on January 27 to play college softball for Huntington College in Montgomery, AL.   We are so proud of you, Jade! Submitted by Christy English.

As part of literacy week, VRB students created a human bookworm throughout the hallways. Around 1100 students all joined together in the hallway to read for 20 minutes. All students were "connected" with each other, creating a bookworm. Submitted by Sherrie Binkowski.
