30 A Artist and former students of Dr. Komando, Andy Saczynski and Lori Saczynski, visited the SWHS Art classes on Thursday. Andy spoke about his artwork and what inspires him to create. Lori spoke about Art careers and the business side of the Art world. It was an honor to have both take time to come and share with our students. Submitted by Vivian Komando.

During Literacy Week, West DeFuniak Elementary students passed 5626 Accelerated Reader tests and earned 3168.2 points.  Teachers used chain links to motivate students to make the largest chain possible.  The Media Center has displayed the chains to show students the power of working together to achieve a goal.  Great job WDE students!!!

During literacy week at WDE, some of the first grade classes encouraged reading by "reading outside for fun". Mrs. Melinda Bailey's & Mrs. Carla Sconiers' classes read outside after lunch on the playground. The students read independently and then completed AR quizzes on their chosen books. South Walton High School football players congratulated Jireh and Jeremiah Crittenden.  The Crittenden brothers signed letters of commitment to play football at the University of Charleston. Submitted by Barbara Stratton.
