In support of National Unity Day, the Walton County School District joined emeraldcoastkids.org’s WEAR ORANGE for #UnityDay2017. Students from all over the district wore orange on October 25th, and participated in activities throughout the month to help raise awareness of the serious issue of bullying. Activities emphasized the importance of kindness, acceptance, inclusion and the need for unity.
Superintendent Russell Hughes and the district office administration and staff all wore orange for the event, and gathered together to show their support for the anti-bullying cause!

The Importance of Being Ernie! Fall Production at SWHS

The Theatre Project at South Walton presents: The Importance of Being Ernie, a modern day re-telling of the Oscar Wilde classic, set in a modern day American high school. Run dates are this Thursday, Friday and Saturday, October 26, 27 and 28 at 7:30pm in the SWHS auditorium. Tickets are $6 for students and $8 for adults. We'll see you there!

Over 300 attend Maude Saunders Family Literacy Night!

Maude Saunders theme this year is “Teamwork Sparks Success”. Our family literacy night on October 19th saw teams of parents, grandparents, students, teachers, staff, and community members come together for fun literacy activities. WDE 4th Graders Study the State of Florida

4th Grade students at WDE have been studying the state of Florida. They have learned the location of the three regions in Florida along with the location of major cities, and tourists attractions. Students had a great time decorating a state cookie and identify these locations on their cookie as their final project for this unit. Students then enjoyed eating their state of Florida cookie. On Thursday, October 5th the Van R. Butler Chorus visited Grand Blvd. Health and Rehab in Miramar Beach. They sang Patriotic, Fall, and Spooky Music for the residents. It really brightened the resident's day, and the young musicians!! Following the performances, the group enjoyed a fun picnic lunch!

WDE Students Learn that Math is in Science

Mrs. Callahan’s Class at West DeFuniak Elementary is learning to use scientific tools to solve mathematical problems by measuring mass, volume, length, and time. The students measured then took their calculations and rounded to the nearest ten. These scientists have discovered the importance of math in science! Submitted by Jessica Dawkins.

Students at Freeport Middle School will be joining schools all across the Walton County School District as we participate in Pacer.org's National Campaign Against Bullying. Students will show support with multiple activities throughout the week designed to help students become more aware of the bullying issue, and develop ways to unite for kindness, acceptance and inclusion.
