During the last full week of school prior to Holiday Break, Emerald Coast Middle School held an Entrepreneur Day.  Ms. Gerhardt's 5th grade math classes hosted the event. In an effort to expand the ideas of math past the walls of the classroom students were given the task to create, engineer and market their items for sale to their peers using classroom economy money. Students created prototypes and conducted market research to determine marketability and viability of their product. They were given a budget of 5-10 dollars to spend to create their products. Teachers and staff were invited to use "classroom economy money" provided by Ms. Gerhardt to shop as they browsed through the aisles of homemade engineered items created from things that would commonly be thrown away.

Mr. Hughes visited Freeport Schools and ran into Santa at Freeport High School! He asked Santa to "Give all of his students, employees and families a wonderful Holiday Break", and ensure that they can all return to school in January to complete an AWESOME school year!  While he was there he also had a chance to stop by the gym to visit with students!

The faculty, staff, and students at Walton Middle School proudly recognize Mrs. Katie Williams as Teacher of the Year and Ms. Laurie Tucker as ESP of the Year.  Both ladies feel incredibly honored to be recognized by their peers to represent the school they love so dearly.  Ms. Tucker, instructional aide, states that the best part of her job is working with students.  Mrs. Williams,  Civics teacher, enjoys sharing her passion for our country with her seventh graders.  Each day, she makes a committed effort to show all her students that they are cared for and that they can be successful regardless of their circumstances.  Please help us congratulate Mrs. Williams and Ms. Tucker for this well-deserved honor.
