WMS Student Voices Matter
March 2, 2018
On Friday, March 2, Mr. Dennie Smith's eighth grade AVID students thoughtfully and respectfully voiced their opinions about controversial, culturally relevant topics through a Philosophical Chairs activity. Not only did students develop and articulate their own arguments, but they also facilitated the discussion themselves with only minimal guidance from Mr. Smith. Students walked away from the experience with a firm understanding that their opinions and those of others matter--and can thereby be used to meaningfully impact change in today's world.
