The sun didn't set without Stingrays representing us WELL at their meet this past Friday. Both boys and girls finished 2nd out of 25 teams at the Big Bend Showdown in Tallahassee. We are so proud to watch these students compete and work together as a team, supporting each other on and off campus, demonstrating that both academic and athletic success can go hand-in-hand! Stingray shout out and gratitude to our coaches, The Parkers! CONGRATULATIONS Stingrays!

On Friday, March 2, Mr. Dennie Smith's eighth grade AVID students thoughtfully and respectfully voiced their opinions about controversial, culturally relevant topics through a Philosophical Chairs activity.  Not only did students develop and articulate their own arguments, but they also facilitated the discussion themselves with only minimal guidance from Mr. Smith.  Students walked away from the experience with a firm understanding that their opinions and those of others matter--and can thereby be used to meaningfully impact change in today's world.  Submitted by Kristen Nelson.

Mr. Hughes met personally today with an MSE student who remembered the "see something, say something" policy by alerting her teacher to a situation she had an uneasy feeling about. School safety is a top priority for the Walton County School District. Sumitted by Krisy Spence.

Second graders at Butler Elementary were excited to learn about the weather when they were recently visited by Meteorologist Chris Smith from WJHG, Channel 7 News.  The students enjoyed learning about weather phenomena from a real expert! Submitted by Tammy Smith.

Students at Butler Elementary School recently pulled together to raise $1485.58 during our recent “Change For Children” fundraising drive.  Student Council members led the drive by encouraging students to participate, collecting donations, and counting the funds!  Way to go Butler Bears! Bay Elementary would like to thank all the dads that came out in support of our Jump Rope for Heart and the Popsicles with Pop event we held recently. We raised over $4,000.00 to send to the American Heart Association.

Thank you!
