Paxton's elementary students enjoyed watching and participating in the presentation on flight by the Atlantic Coast Theatre Company. 

"Flight" is brought to the us through the generous funding provided by the Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation.  A.C.T. for Youth is an acclaimed professional touring theatre company based in Orlando. 

Mankind has always been fascinated with the skies, the stars, and reaching new heights.  FLIGHT! combines creative staging, original music, audience participation, & multi-media elements into a theatrical production that explores the stories of flight including the Wright Brothers, Amelia Earhart, The US/Soviet "Space Race", & NASA's many accomplishments.  Students are challenged to think about the future of flight, and perhaps be inspired to become pioneers reaching for the stars themselves.

On Friday, January 12, 2018 In”10”sity Magnet Program held its first Open House/Title I Parent Involvement Night. Despite the holiday weekend and the steep drop in temperatures, many students and parents were in attendance. Principal, Jonathan D’Avignon spoke with parents about the program, the importance of parent involvement and student progress. Students were presented with medals and awards for their accomplishments during the first semester and the evening concluded with a cookout for everyone in attendance. The administration, faculty and staff felt that the event was a great success.

The Walton County School District was recently recognized by the Walton County Commissioners and Emergency Management Director, Jeff Goldberg, at a recent meeting of the Board of County Commissioners.  

A plaque was presented to Superintendent Russell Hughes and School Board Member Gail Smith acknowledging the district's  collaboration with Emergency Management of Walton County, and their effort "above and beyond the call of duty to help ensure that Walton County residents and visitors remained safe during Hurricane Irma in September of 2017."

Superintendent Hughes presented the plaque to the School Board members at their January 16th meeting at South Walton High School.

Based on weather reports and communications with our local EOC, Superintendent A. Russell Hughes has closed Walton County Schools for Wednesday, January 17, 2018.

In addition, all out of county after school activities today, Tuesday, January 16, 2018, are cancelled. 

A decision concerning Thursday's school opening will be made by 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday.  Please stay tuned to our webpage, Facebook page and media outlets for additional information.


A message from Superintendent A. Russell Hughes: Based on weather reports and communication with local authorities, all Walton County Schools will reopen tomorrow, Thursday, January 18, 2018, with no outside activities. However, it will be extremely cold so please be sure your child is appropriately dressed. I ask parents to make every attempt to limit the amount of time students are at their bus stops.
