To honor the 17 lives lost in the Parkland shooting and to start off the last nine weeks on a positive note, the PHS Builder's Club challenged the rest of the school to participate in the "17 Challenge," in which each students strives to complete 17 acts of kindness. The Builder's club students met the rest of the school as they arrived holding up posters with suggestions of different acts of kindness that they could do throughout the day. South Walton High School observed a presentation of a fatal vehicle crash to demonstrate the dangers of driving while impaired or distracted.

WHS Students Perform At Disney Parade
March 27, 2018
On Friday, March 23, the Marching Braves departed for Disney World at 3am for three days in the parks along with a parade performance and instrumental workshop with one of Disney’s clinicians.
The students had a great time and represented themselves, their school, and their county well with model behavior and quality performing – as they always do. The students traveled to Animal Kingdom, Magic Kingdom, and ended with Hollywood Studios.
The students performed in a parade at Magic Kingdom on Saturday evening to a crowd of about 40,000 people and were well-received by all spectators! Many screaming, clapping, and excited families watched the Braves march right in front of Cinderella’s Castle down Main Street.
On Sunday, while at Hollywood Studios, the Symphonic Band had the great opportunity to collaborate with a Disney Clinician for 2½ hours working on never-before-seen music and learning the tricks of the trade on how Disney Musicians record soundtracks. The students recorded almost the entire session and even had a chance to work on music from the movie "Tarzan" and see the footage edited together with their recording by the Video and Sound Engineer once they finished.
The students were engaged and responsive to the clinician, who was phenomenal. They received a trophy following their parade performance...and they also received a set of custom Mickey Ears!
We are proud of our Marching Braves & know this was an experience they will never forget!

PHS Spanish Competition Team Competes in Orlando

Over Spring break, Paxton's first Spanish competition team competed in the Florida State Spanish Competition in Orlando, Florida. The students won various SOBRESALIENTES y SUPERIORES, which were the top TWO high ranks out of four that could be given. Students competed in individual impromptu speeches, poem recitations, and a skit. All activities were done completely in Spanish. Congratulations, Spanish students! Submitted by Kalli McMillan.
FHS National Honor Society Holds Blood Drive

Freeport High School's National Honor Society has been proactive in organizing blood drives at their school. They have held two blood drives this year. ECMS Holds First Ever Spirit Assembly!

ECMS held its first ever Spirit Assembly on March 15, 2018. The students gathered in the ECMS Cafeteria and were welcomed with signs and banners displaying uplifting and inspirational messages made by students and teachers. The assembly began with videos created by Media Production students at both ECMS and SWHS. The highlight of the event was the keynote address delivered by Mr. Chris Simpson, Secret Service Agent for President Donald Trump. During Mr. Simpson’s 19-year Secret Service career, he has provided protection for six U.S. Presidents and traveled to numerous countries worldwide. The event wrapped up with fun, games and refreshments outside. Stingrays participated in various events such as dance-off, hula hoop contest, face painting, human ring toss and Stingray hand-off. It was a wonderful way to celebrate the end of the 3rd 9 Weeks, let the students know how much their hard work in the classroom is recognized and appreciated and inspire them to come back from Spring Break ready to work hard to finish the 2017-18 School Year strong! Thank you to Ms. Donnita Carroll, ECMS Behavior Team Chairperson, for taking the lead in organizing this event as well as the ECMS Staff that helped Ms. Carroll make this event possible!

PHS Track Team Recognizes Seniors

Paxton track team's seniors (as pictured): Shaleigh Geoghagan, Savannah Burke, Kenna Jordan, Bryson Kimmons, Hailey Myddelton, and Macon Roberts were honored by their coaches Laurie Gilbert and Maryllyn Zessin (also pictured) in front of an audience of their family, friends, principal, and Bobcat fans after their track meet on Thursday. As seniors, the students were given special recognition for their time as members of the school's track team. You were all assets to the team and we will miss you. Thank you, seniors!
