WDE 2nd grade students performed “Hats” this past week. The musical was directed by Mr. Nathan Height. Hats of all shapes and sizes took over the stage when a group of milliners help Hatless Henrietta find the perfect hat.  Ima Milliner, who’s hat was not like the rest, showed off her wonderful, magnificent hat of her own creation.  She saw that no matter the hat, it is what’s in your head and heart that counts.  Singing songs like Let’s Party, The Perfect Hat for Me, Keep Your Head in the Game, Uncle Sam Is Who I Am and My Head and My Heart make this the perfect concert to end the year. Over a two week period, 7th grade students at ECMS visited the E.O. Wilson Biophilia Center in Freeport.  The Center educates, approximately 100 students a day in fourth and seventh grades. Visits to the Center are free and over 20 programs with different environmental science lessons are offered. ECMS students and staff were privileged to visit the center, and bring science into their hands for real-life learning experiences. Submitted by Angela Vance.

Former West DeFuniak Elementary students participated in a Senior Walk on Monday, May 15th.  Students had their arms outstretched as the Walton High School seniors walked by in cap and gown.  It was easy to see the benefits of this tradition. WHS seniors were setting an example for WDE’s students saying “one day, you too will be here.” Submitted by Darlene Paul.
