Mrs. Chest's Civics class has been studying the different forms of governments. In order to help them better understand, the class used gummy bears to represent the governments and then drew the representations in their interactive notebooks. What an EPIC way to learn!

Fifth grade classes at WDE are studying comparing and ordering decimal numbers to the thousandths. The students had fun with a hands on decimal lesson in the library with Media Specialist, Mrs. Tammy Goodman. Non-fiction books are organized by decimal numbers, so groups of students used the numbering system to place all of the library books in order from least to greatest. This was a great activity for students to better understand decimals, how they are used in the real world, and to become better acquainted with the library.

This month's video was filmed at Freeport Middle School where Superintendent Hughes welcomes new principal, John Olson. Superintendent Hughes shares his excitement over the great beginning of the 2019-20 school year, and emphasizes the importance of regular daily school attendance for student success. Mr. Hughes also reminds parents of the upcoming mid-term progress reports coming out on September 11, 2019. Great things are happening in the WCSD!
