Mrs. Chest's Civics class has been studying the different forms of governments. In order to help them better understand, the class used gummy bears to represent the governments and then drew the representations in their interactive notebooks. What an EPIC way to learn!

Fifth grade classes at WDE are studying comparing and ordering decimal numbers to the thousandths. The students had fun with a hands on decimal lesson in the library with Media Specialist, Mrs. Tammy Goodman. Non-fiction books are organized by decimal numbers, so groups of students used the numbering system to place all of the library books in order from least to greatest. This was a great activity for students to better understand decimals, how they are used in the real world, and to become better acquainted with the library.

The Freeport Middle School Art Department practiced color mixing and the color wheel today using cake icing, vanilla wafers, and food coloring.  It was a delicious way to prepare for the upcoming painting projects we will be creating this year.  Submitted by FMS Art teacher, Kendra Estes

On Friday, August 30th, Mrs. Gaby Brown’s seventh grade AVID elective students were happy to lend a helping hand to Mrs. Emily Kent’s sixth grade reading students.  AVID binder organization is a fundamental for success for WMS students, and it is often difficult for sixth graders as they adjust from having just one or two teachers in elementary school to seven teachers in middle school.  The seventh grade AVID students helped prepare the sixth graders for their first binder check by explaining each part of the rubric and by providing tried and true tips for staying organized.  In true Warrior spirit, WMS students collaborate to help each other succeed.
