EPIC Growth for the Walton County School District

Tuesday, January 24th was an EPIC day of growth for the Walton County School District. Superintendent Hughes and the Walton County School Board donned their hardhats and broke ground on the new Freeport Middle School. Shortly thereafter, Freeport Elementary School cut the ribbon on it's brand new addition that gives children the space they need to thrive. Attendees were privy to a the beautiful music of the Sophisticats lead by Angela Saltsman.
Walton County remains among the fastest growing counties in the United States and the Walton County School District is committed Get On - Go on!

Celebrate Literacy Week, Florida! 2023 is scheduled for the week of January 23-27, 2023.
The Just Read, Florida! office and the Florida Department of Education (FDOE), in partnership with other FDOE offices, the Walton County School District, state organizations and agencies, are planning the 15th annual statewide Celebrate Literacy Week, Florida! 2023 events.
This year, our Celebrate Literacy Week, Florida! theme is Take a Deep Dive Into Literacy – Splash Into New Worlds! With this theme in mind, we are encouraging all schools to participate in reading books to deepen students’ knowledge and support the New Worlds Reading Initiative program which provides high-quality, free books on a monthly basis to K-5 students performing below grade level to instill a love of reading. The New Worlds Reading Initiative FREE book delivery program was created to help K-5 students build at-home libraries and encourage a love for reading.
