Walton High’s biology students are currently learning about that special molecule that unifies all of life and at the same time makes all living things different - deoxyribonucleic acid, aka DNA! With a few simple steps, students can remove DNA from strawberries. Although a single strand of DNA is tiny enough to be packed inside of each cell and is invisible to the naked eye, when enough are gathered, it appears as a white precipitate in a layer of alcohol. Seeing is believing! Cheers to the molecule of heredity and those who determined its structure in 1953!
