The MakerSpace group is an afterschool club composed of about 60 students in 4th and 5th grade. Submitted by Jessica Dawkins.

4th grade students in Mrs. McLaney and Mrs. Adams’ classes participated in the Pirates Christmas program on December 13, 2016.  The play was about Santa and his Elves taking a well-deserved vacation from the North Pole to their “Island Christmas”. When out of nowhere Pirates come and surround them singing “Pirates All Are We”. These pirates know nothing about Christmas and end up hitching a ride with Santa to the North Pole to plunder his treasure only to find that Christmas is a time of giving, not taking. Once these pirates grasp the “true” meaning of Christmas they are able to participate in singing Blimey Carols and have A Pirates’ Christmas. During the weeks of November 28-December 14th, West DeFuniak Elementary students were challenged to earn as many 100's on Accelerated Reader tests as possible.  The catch was that the students were working for a reward for their teacher!  Mr. Andy Stafford, a fifth grade teacher, was the recipient of a car detail cleaning!  His students made 100% on 515 books during that time.  That was an average of 24.5 tests per student.  During that time WDE earned close to 5000 points for AR.  Congratulations to all of the students and teachers!!!

Congratulations Emerald Coast Middle School Girl’s Basketball Team who earned the title as champions at the Northwest Florida Middle School Athletic Conference on December 10th! They finished their season undefeated! Way to go Stingrays! Submitted by Angela Vance.

Walton High School would like to thank the Walton County Democratic Women's Club for donating books to the library this morning.  Karen McGee and Victoria Dwyer presented the books.  Ms. Currid and Ms. Stephenson's leadership students were excited to be the first to get their hands on the new books, which will soon be cataloged and available for check-out.  In addition to the donations, they also provided pizza for the students.

Thank you again to the Walton County Democratic Women's Club for their generosity.  We sincerely appreciate your kindness and know these books will be enjoyed for years to come. Submitted by Christy English.
